File Transfer Today
In today's fast paced global economy the ability to transfer files between organizations is becoming increasingly critical. In many cases sending files via CD , Dat tape or on a floppy is just simply no longer an option due to shortened delivery times and the need to respond quickly. Our product will ensure that you can transfer large files easily using the web based file manager that eliminates the hassles of using other electronic methods.

Web File Transfer Version 3.5 Release Notes

Group functionality has been incorporated into our http file server to allow for multiple users to be able access files located in a common folder to download.  This feature also provides for group e-mail notifications when files are uploaded to the group folder.
A PowerUsers Group is now available to allow for a User Account to have access to all folders similar to the administrative account however they do not have access to the administrative features that are used to configure the web file transfer system.
When uploading a file by a user who is in the Administrators or PowerUsers groups an e-mail notification is now sent to the folder owners e-mail address.

Details on how Groups are implemented

The purpose of Groups is to allow for files to be made available to many users and to provide e-mail notifications to all users in the group. In order to upload files into a group folder a user must either be in the Administrators or PowerUsers group. The example below will provide an overview of the process.

Step 1 Create a group such as the Group-Sales in the example below and add some users. Using the default settings this will create the folder C:\webfilexfr\group-sales.

Step 2 After logging in with an Administrator or PowerUsers account click on the folder Group-Sales and then proceed to click on the OutgoingFiles folder next.

Step 3 As depicted below you can see a list of all the e-mail addresses that a notification will be sent to. The next step is to simply upload a file to that folder. After uploading an e-mail will be sent to all members of that group indicating that a file is available.

Step 4 After one of the users in the group logs in they can see a list of groups they are in as well as their own account in the View Drop Down List. By choosing the appropriate group they can then proceed to download any files in that group.
